Frequently Asked Questions

Ear Wax Removal Drops

Why would I want to buy the all-natural ear wax removal drops versus the regular ear wax removal drops?

It depends on your preference towards using all-natural products versus an active ingredient used to breakdown the ear wax. Natural wax removal drops are effective in softening and loosening ear wax buildup.

Are the ear wax removal products safe for use for children?

Yes. However, consult your doctor for children under 12 years of age.

Are the ear wax removal products hypoallergenic or safe for sensitive ears?

Yes.

Is it safe to use the ear wax removal drops every day?

No. They should be used as needed for up to four days. Consult your doctor if symptoms are worse or not cleared up after four days.

How long can the ear wax removal drops stay in the ear?

They can be used with or without the flushing component. Thus you do not have to worry about the length of contact.

My ears are now clear, should I use the ear wax removal drops regularly to prevent wax build up?

No. They should be used as needed up to four days. Consult your doctor if symptoms are worse or not cleared up after four days.

Do you need to irrigate the ear after using the ear wax removal drops?

This is the best way to remove the softened wax if your eardrum is intact, but it is not necessary as wax does naturally work out of the ear.

Can we use ear wax removal drops if we have a hole in our eardrum?

You cannot flush the ear if you have a hole in the eardrum.  We also would not recommend using drops that are not medically prescribed if you have a perforation in your eardrum.

I used the ear wax removal drops and have flushed the ear, yet I didn’t see anything come out. What should I do?

You can repeat the process and try a few more times. If the wax still doesn't flush out, go back to your audiologist or medical doctor to review and remove the wax.

Do I flush the ear out after each use of ear wax removal drops?

No. Full treatment is defined as drops two times per day for up to 4 days. After the fourth day, if necessary, the individual can flush out the ear. Also, if an individual uses the drops one day and notices the symptoms of itching or clogging have disappeared, it may not be necessary for him or her to use it for the full four-day treatment.

What do I do after using the ear wax removal drops as directed for four days and my ears are still clogged?

Discontinue use and consult a physician.

How do I use the ear wax removal drops?

Ear wax drops are easy to use. They safely remove excessive ear wax through the power of microfoam cleansing action. When drops are placed in the ear, oxygen is released, allowing foaming on contact as it gently softens and loosens ear wax. For best results:
  • Use twice a day for up to four days if needed or as directed by your doctor
  • For each use, approximately 5-10 drops should be placed in the affected ear(s)
Ear wax removal drops are available over the counter in a bottle or as a kit that includes a soft rubber bulb ear syringe. It is gentle enough for children ages 12 and up yet strong enough for an adult.
Ear Wax Removal Drops via Bottle or Ear Syringe

I've heard of three other methods and tools for removing ear wax such as ear candling, cotton-tipped swabs, and oral irrigators.  Are any of them safe and effective?

None of them are considered safe or effective by the medical field. The formula contained in our ear wax drops is considered by the FDA as safe and effective for ear wax removal.
